Post Renovation Plans – DIYs Perfect For the Winter Time

Now I know why people say home renovations are never truly done. Planning our post renovation DIYs has only made me more excited to continue to “fixer upper” the house. With the New Year here, and winter is in full swing, it’s the perfect time to make our way room by room. As you all know I can design a room/layout/mood board prior so that we can see very well what the end result is going to resemble. I’m going to give you a glimpse here into our plans, but then as we work, stay tuned to my Instagram stories, and updated blog posts pertaining to each specific space. As with the renovation planning, I’m going to be doing tons of polls, questions, sneak peeks so that you can be a part of it! So, be sure to stay tuned!

Here are what we’ve discussed so far for our Post Renovation DIYs:

Some Shiplap

You may have heard that we had a bit of a mishap with the wallpaper we ordered for our powder bathroom. Because of this, we changed direction and started shiplap walls. We plan to finish those, stain them and decorate very, well, fun (so as not to give it away). Reveal coming soon, but here is a sneak peak!

Pantry Shelves

Though we aren’t quite sure what they’ll look like yet, I know I want some sort of rustic bracket/shelf. Similar to what Joe did in our apartment bathroom. It’s more about the practicability of having the pantry, but try to stop me from making it pretty. Dare you!

Some of the pantry’s and DIY shelving we plan to draw inspiration from:

Back of Island Accent vs. Range Hood Decoration

This one is something we didn’t realize would be on the post-renovation DIYs list until very recently. The quartz tops we chose in our kitchen and wet bar are less striking than we thought they’d be. The kitchen is very, very white because of it. Granted, the beautiful black and brass range, black appliances, dark grout in the back splash, black sinks and faucets will make a difference but it needs something. So, we are currently going back and forth between adding decoration to our very white range hood, or, adding detail to the back of our island. I’m leaning more towards range hood, and these are a few similar ideas.

I need your vote!! Would you go:

A. Dramatic with the black AND gold
B. White and Gold
C. Wood accent

Let me know your response in the comments! PLEASE!

Bookshelf

The guest bedroom needs a complete overhaul and probably won’t be a super quick DIY that belongs on this list. However, we will be working on that this winter and a quick DIY we will be doing in there is shelving, probably for books, above the fireplace. I want it to look cohesive and really change the dynamic of the cute reading nook.

Laundry Room Uplift

Finally, the laundry room is going to be so fun to get situated. I want to add a more industrial pendant light, maybe some built-ins for extra “entryway” space, organization. A folding counter, etc. I’m slowly working out what I want. I loved Chris Loves Julia’s laundry transformation, I may just have to draw some serious inspiration from it.
