If you haven’t heard of Cryotherapy yet, I hate to break it to you, but you’re late to the game. Even though it was developed way back in 1978, this revolutionary, all-natural method of therapy is more popular than ever. Lucky for you, it’s not going anywhere. It’s fast, easy, and to be honest, kind of fun, but most of all, it’s amazing for you.
What is Cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy, in definition, is a method of localized freezing on targeted areas of the body. Typically, you stand in the cryo“sauna” which will exert the freezing on your whole body from the shoulders down.
Using nitrogen vapor, the temperature inside the cryosauna drops to between -184˚F and -292˚F. Each session lasts about three minutes, and is safe, painless and refreshing.
Pain relief, muscle healing, reduced inflammation, lowered anxiety, reduced symptoms of depression, improved symptoms of eczema, relief for migraines are just some of the effects of cryotherapy, and there are so many more. Whether you’re an athlete dealing with constant soreness and exhausted muscles, someone who deals with chronic, unbearable back pain, or maybe you just need a little pick me up to get the blood flowing, it’s for you.
Besides the healing effects that cryotherapy has on the interior of the body, there are certain benefits to the exterior as well. Girls and boys, I introduce the Cryo-Facial. I’m still flabbergasted at everything Danielle and I talked about while I laid back and enjoyed the refreshingly cold air.
The facial is executed using the localized cryo device. Basically, it’s a moveable, smaller device with an arm that blasts nitrogen vapor on your scalp, face, and neck. The cold air stimulates the tissue of the skin and increases blood circulation. The blood circulation increases the production of collagen, and if you know anything about your face, and skin on your face, you know you need that collagen for a healthy, younger, less wrinkled glow.
I know I got all y’all hooked with that.
We all want to go backwards when it comes to aging, but even more, it reduces acne, inflammation, puffiness, and dark spots. Plus, the scalp treatment promotes hair growth. I think because it grows colder and more stimulating as you lay there, you know and feel that it’s working. It’s so relaxing and I promise the chill feels fabulous.
For the Boys, too!
Guys, men, boys, whatever, don’t be deterred by the word “facial.” It’s not what you’d typically expect with serums, awkward massaging and waterfall music in the background. We chatted, I listened and learned during the whole thing, we even laughed a bunch too! The human male is not exempt from facial ailments such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. If you have issues with any of these here’s your answer without stepping foot into a dermatologist’s office or frilly spa.
Calling All Brides
I thought this fact was the coolest part about the facial: You can wear makeup the whole time.
Say what?! I know.
I didn’t get a chance to take my makeup off but Danielle (who is amazing by the way) was like “don’t even worry!” It gets done right over it. Because it’s simply cold air, it doesn’t affect what’s on your skin, it’s more about affecting what’s within your skin, or your skin itself. It helps your makeup look better. It feels smoother, because your skin is tightening, and gives it an airbrushed look. I kept saying how perfect it would be for your wedding day. A quick glow, plus a quick cool down to calm the nerves before the big walk!
Now, you may think, where has this been hiding?! There is no way we (buffalo) have (and have had) facilities without me knowing…
Well, if you didn’t know, now you know.
Buffalo Cryo is located in The Fairmont Creamery building in downtown Buffalo. Pat Connors and Dr. Jacob Fey have developed and designed a state-of-the-art space for the vast techniques and uses of cryo. Equipped with the newest technology, most crucial equipment, and really awesome branding, it’s swanky but practical and you know it’s no joke. Bills, Sabres, Bandits, and other local athletes rely on this new therapy. So if they’re doing it…..
They have an introductory price for your first class, so go check it out. Get a facial before a big event with Danielle! Or, talk to one of the guys and see if they can help any other issues you may be dealing with. You don’t know until you try, right?
PLEASE, I want to hear if you go! That’s the best part and goal with this whole blogging thing. I swear to only write and influence you to try the things I truly love, believe in, and rely on. In return, I hope you’ll tell me about your experiences, so don’t hesitate!
